Last Week in 5 links #54

by | Jan 5, 2021 | FiveLinks

This week we have diving from heights, video games, game-tech, Tesla and hardware, all handpicked by Rudolf Major.

Ten Meter Tower

When I first climbed a tower like this, I did it with my daughter. My friends’ kids were jumping off the tower without any hesitation, so we thought it would be easy to do that. Well, once we were up, my knees just failed me and my legs started to shake. It was only a 5-meter height, but still, I couldn’t make the jump. After a bit of convincing, my daughter jumped first and I followed her. It is higher than it looks, that’s for sure.

Rendering of Cyberpunk 2077

Watching videos about rendering pipelines or reading about them is always like magic for me. It’s an unfamiliar territory I always wanted to dive in. I could listen to my teammate Laszlo for days when he is talking about the subject from personal experience.

Tesla Factory

I always follow the news about Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX. I find him an extremely interesting person, inventor and businessman. This video shows how fast a car is being assembled in a Tesla factory. This is truly a game changer for the industry.

Pro Controllers

I like to try new devices. I had many controllers for my VR setup, not in that early stage like these, but still prototypes. I’m not a big FPS champion, but this one presents a compelling argument over using a traditional controller and ditching the good old mouse and keyboard combo.

CP2077 Launch Misery

This article provides an overview of what happened with Cyberpunk 2077. The whole world was talking about it in December. I played through the game and I must admit, the developers made an excellent game. There are bugs I hate, but the game is playable and fantastic. I expect with continued development and bug fixing the patches will sort all of those out.
