Last Week in 5 Links #51

by | Dec 1, 2020 | FiveLinks

This week we have a selection of algorithms, technology, Cyberpunk 2077, climate change and science, all handpicked by Miklos Hajma.

Wave Function Collapse Algorithm Tutorial

I have been using this algorithm for a while now in a prototype I’m working on. That is one of the reasons I chose this tutorial. They explains it in a way that everyone can understand it easily. I believe that this is an excellent way to teach algorithms. In general, they aren’t too complicated, but the way they’ve been taught makes it tricky to understand sometimes.

Sound Beaming

I love when technology approaches something from a different angle and the result is a new discovery. This one is beaming the music into your head, creating your own music bubble that others cannot hear.

Cyberpunk 2077

Not much I can add to this. The game is highly anticipated, created by CD Projekt, the studio behind The Witcher series. I can’t wait to dive into the neon-lighted buzzing world of Night City.

Arctic Microbes are Waking Up

Glacier melt rates have nearly doubled in the last five years. We don’t know what type of microbes and bacteria are frozen under those glaciers. I often say this joke: “Cthulhu is waiting to get defrosted”. What if there’s something awful buried under the ice?

Scientists Kill Cancer Cells in Mice

I believe that everyone on the planet is waiting for the cure. Nobody wants to get cancer, obviously, but statistics say that every second person has cancer during their life. It is so sad, and we really need that cure now.

This is a post in the Last Week in 5 Links series. We share a lot of interesting videos, articles and other types of content in our internal chat. We thought some of the info we come across could come in handy for others too. So each week we post five of the links we shared between ourselves in the previously selected by one of our team.

You can see our previous 5 links posts here:
